Introducing HND FAQ Pro — Schema FAQ Accordion with Live Search and WooCommerce Integration

HND FAQ Pro adds live search, question suggestions, card layout and WooCommerce product tab integration to the free HND FAQ plugin. Here's what's new in Pro.

HND FAQ started as a simple internal tool — a clean FAQ accordion with Schema.org markup that we kept copying between client projects. Version 2.0 turned it into a proper plugin with a Gutenberg block, Elementor widget, drag & drop reorder, and CSV import. The free version is available on the WordPress plugin repository.

HND FAQ Pro is the paid addon that adds the features we kept being asked for — live search, question suggestions, WooCommerce integration, and more. This post covers what’s included and when Pro makes sense over the free version.

What the free version already includes

Before getting to Pro, it’s worth being clear about what’s free. HND FAQ (free) includes unlimited questions and categories, Schema.org FAQPage JSON-LD markup, a Gutenberg block with full sidebar controls, an Elementor widget, the [hnd_faq] shortcode with category and ordering options, Table of Contents (inline or sticky sidebar), drag & drop question reorder, per-question colour overrides, a “Was this helpful?” voting widget, open-count analytics per question, CSV import and export, and full WPML and Polylang support.

That’s a complete FAQ solution for most sites. Pro is for cases where you need more.

What Pro adds

Live search

A search box appears above the FAQ accordion and filters questions and answers instantly as the user types — no page reload. You can enable it globally across all FAQ accordions or on specific instances using the [hnd_faq search=”true”] shortcode attribute. A standalone search box can be placed anywhere with [hnd_faq_search] .

Search is particularly useful on long FAQ pages where users would otherwise scroll through dozens of questions. In testing, live search significantly reduces the number of support contacts from pages where it’s enabled.

Question suggestions

A “Suggest a question” form appears below the FAQ accordion, letting visitors submit questions they couldn’t find an answer to. Submissions are saved as drafts under FAQ → Suggestions with optional email notification to the admin. You can configure the form title, description, success message, and whether to ask for name and email.

This turns your FAQ into a feedback loop — you see exactly what questions your users have that you haven’t answered yet.

Card / Grid layout

An alternative to the accordion where questions and answers are displayed simultaneously in a card grid. Useful for shorter FAQ sets where you want all content visible without interaction — product feature pages, pricing pages, or anywhere you want to reduce friction.

WooCommerce integration

Pro adds two WooCommerce-specific display modes. On product pages, FAQs can appear in a dedicated tab, via a hook position, or manually with a shortcode or block. On archive pages (shop, category), FAQs can be injected via configurable hook positions or placed manually.

Display rules are set per product category or per attribute value. A product in the “tyres” category can automatically show tyre-related FAQs; a product with the attribute “summer” can show summer-specific questions. Additional per-product questions can be added directly from the product edit screen.

This is particularly useful for e-commerce sites with large catalogues where maintaining separate FAQ pages for every product category isn’t practical.

Table of Contents customisation

Pro extends the free version’s Table of Contents with scrollspy (highlights the active section as you scroll), numbered list option, configurable colours, custom label, and sticky offset control for fixed headers. All ToC visual settings are separate from the base plugin accent colour so you can style them independently.

Custom CSS editor and conditional display

A custom CSS editor in the Pro settings panel lets you override any visual aspect of the FAQ without touching your theme. Conditional display lets you restrict FAQ visibility by user role — logged in, admin, editor, or WooCommerce customer — useful for members-only content or internal documentation.

Free vs Pro — when does Pro make sense?

The free version covers the majority of FAQ use cases. Pro makes sense when you have a long FAQ page where search would meaningfully improve usability, when you’re running a WooCommerce store and want contextual FAQs on product pages, or when you want to use the suggestion form as a passive feedback channel.

If you’re not sure, start with the free version — it’s a complete solution and you can add Pro later without losing any existing content or configuration.

Pricing

HND FAQ Pro is available on a 1-domain license (€29/year) and a 3-domain license (€69/year). The free base plugin is required and available from the WordPress plugin repository. Pro licenses include all features, automatic updates, and email support.
